What a lovely day at the sponsored walk, with the weather being just right. Not too hot and not too cold. It really was the perfect day condition wise.
The PTA organised the sponsored walk to raise funds for new outdoor seating and play equipment, as requested by the student council. The PTA considered the funding request at a previous meeting, and we of course agreed this would be a great thing to do.
The student council requested 3 picnic style benches to enable them to sit outside when the weather was nice.
We raised a fantastic £1297.40 which has enabled to purchase the items. After consultation with Claire, a style was agreed that would best suit the needs and requirements of the children. The benches were ordered yesterday and should be arriving in the very near future.
Due to the success of the event, the PTA have purchased 2 x 6 seater picnic benches with back rests, 1 x bench which is wheelchair accessible on both sides allowing up to 4 people to use that table at any one time. In addition, the PTA purchased a bench for EYFS classes that opens up in the middle. The middle section has a plastic container built in which will allow sand or water to be played with. It also has a kitchen style sink with pump that allows the children to play with water on the other side. This again was purchased with consultation.
A great thing is that we were able to buy the items at a reduced cost, thanks to some bargain hunting and requests for discounts by Jason. This frees up more money to be used on purchasing outdoor play equipment for the children. The items have yet to be decided upon, but will be along the lines of giant connect 4, catching games, ball games and the like.
The PTA would like to thank everyone who was able to sponsor a child, especially given the cost of living crisis. It really is appreciated and will make a great deal of difference to the students day at school.
During the event the children were given bottled water and haribos which was handed out, and purchased by the PTA.
Big thanks goes to Fran and Claire for organising the event and also to the Teachers/TA's at the school.
Well Done Mill Ford!!
